Tech Flex 8: A Day in the Life

Image
I created a Canva graphic about a day in my life.  This just is a cute little graphic that describes a day in the life of me. I usually start my day out with some coffee, either from Starbucks or me making it at home. I also usually work on school work most of the day, because I do have 5 demanding classes that require a lot of work. I work at an after school program here in Tallahassee and start my work day at 2pm, so I included a picture of me at work. After work I go home, make dinner or eat at my sorority house, then come home to cuddle with my kitten and play with her! Then at night I either finish up my school work from earlier or work on my internship! I personally love watching TikToks of the day in my life, especially from teachers or famous influencers. I think it is a creative and fun way to inform others!

For my teacher's website, I looked at the grade school's website that I attended. I found the school's classroom tab and clicked on a second grade teacher's page. It took me to a second link that was about second grade. This teacher's website had different tabs. The tabs were as followed, all about her, weekly schedule, homework, resources, reading/vocabulary, science, social studies and religion. No matter what tab you clicked on the side bar with all the tabs and a link to the home page was there. I liked the layout and theme of the website, but I did notice that it was a little unorganized. All the homework and resources were just listed and at first glance it could get lost. Overall, I really liked the theme and tab layout of her website. As a future educator, I want to create my own website and keep it updated weekly, so parents and guardians know what is going on in our classroom and to keep them updated on current events. homework and more. https://keribarton...

My initial experience with Diigo was pleasant. I like how there are different ways to post resources. I also like how you can add keywords and or tags to a post, and a description with it. It was a little difficult to learn, but watching the video explaining how to use it made it easier. I would use Diijo in my future classrooms if I was with older students, because I do believe this website is very advances.  My experience with blogging goes back to my freshman year in college. I made a blog for my freshman year english class and had to use it to post our writings and interact with other classmates. I enjoy using blogs and I think it is something I would most definitely use in my future classroom. I have never used this website before to create a blog, so I learned a lot about this website. I have learned the basic features of it, how to add pictures, create a blog page and theme and link different websites into it.  A web 2.0 tool that I would use would be Padlet. I ha...

My early twitter experience goes back to eight grade. I remember making a twitter account and just using it to follow my favorite celebrities, funny accounts and friends. When I first started using Twitter, I did not use it for any educational reason, but simply for fun. I mainly interacted with friends and random accounts that I found funny, relatable or popular. I have strayed away from Twitter recently as a social media platform, but still occasionally check it. I have sometimes used Twitter and found it beneficial, if I needed to know something celebrity related or news related, but nothing major. In my future career, I think Twitter will be beneficial. If I end up teaching an older class, I would want to use Twitter and have them use their accounts to find useful information about whatever we happen to be learning and to interact with each other. If I have a younger class, I would use Twitter personally to find resources and aids to help me. The digital divide is the gap betw...

For Grade 1, I choose LAFS.1.RI.2.5.  This  standard is to know and use various text features to locate key facts or informationin a text. This means to use chapter headlines, the table of contents, glossary and chapter summary at the end, to locate different information in a text. I feel prepared to implement this standard. I have used table of contents and glossaries in my own studying to help me. Because I use these different strategies, I feel prepared to implement it in my classroom. I would start off my lesson introducing these and what they do. Then I would probably do a scavenger hunt and a fun interactive lesson to help my students use it correctly.   Using the CPALMS Educator Toolkit, I picked grade 1 and went to the English Language Arts section. I clicked on and read up on LAFS. 1.RF.1.1. This was about demonstrating understanding of the organization and basic features of print. This standard involves recognizing and distinguishing between different fea...
