In my own words, copyright is one's own rights to their own work. It is the right of owning your work and getting the credit you deserve so that no one can copy you and or use your work without giving you the credit. Copyright is a form of intellectual property and protects your work from others taking it and or using it without giving you the correct credit due. Fair use is a set of rules and or guidelines. It allows people to use your work within reason. This specifically allows teachers to copy materials and papers/worksheets for nonprofit educational purposes within reason. As a teacher, I would deal with these concepts by introducing them to my students. They first need to know what they are before I tell them not to copy someone's work. Similarly. to how FSU has an honor code about copyright, plagiarism and cheating, I would create an honor code in my class.
