In my own words, copyright is one's own rights to their own work. It is the right of owning your work and getting the credit you deserve so that no one can copy you and or use your work without giving you the credit. Copyright is a form of intellectual property and protects your work from others taking it and or using it without giving you the correct credit due. Fair use is a set of rules and or guidelines. It allows people to use your work within reason. This specifically allows teachers to copy materials and papers/worksheets for nonprofit educational purposes within reason. As a teacher, I would deal with these concepts by introducing them to my students. They first need to know what they are before I tell them not to copy someone's work. Similarly. to how FSU has an honor code about copyright, plagiarism and cheating, I would create an honor code in my class. This would outline the rules in regard to copyright, using others work and making sure my students are citing their sources when needed to.

With the increased use of technology in classroom, is always accompanied with technology implementation issues. If the issue of cyberbullying occured in my classroom, I would shut it down immediately. For starters, I would explain to my students that cyberbullying will not be tolerated, accepted and or kept in this class. I would also make sure, whatever technology resources we use in my classroom that allow for commenting, would require actual names. Even if students were allowed nicknames, I would make sure I knew at the end of the day who is who. So if cyberbullying was to occur, I can trace it down and end it immediately. Depending on what my school's bullying policy is, I would most definitely have a parent teacher meeting, some form of detention and or suspension and a formal apology to whoever was hurt. If the issue of decreased productivity was an issue in my classroom, I would find out why. Maybe it is due to my students going on other sites like social media or something. I would ask my school to make a wifi blocker. We used it in my high school and it blocked Snapchat, Instagram and other social media tools to be used on the wifi on your device. I believe this would eliminate the issue of being unproductive due to distractions.

A new skill I acquired from working on the Newsletter Design is how to create a hyper link. I learned how to create a hyperlink that when you click on a word, it takes you directly to the website. To do this, type a word like here or email. Then highlight the word, right click and select hyperlink. When you click on hyperlink, just paste the website URL into the box/section that says it, then press done. After this, the word should appear blue and underlined. And if you click on the word, it should take you immediately to the website!

  1. Hi Brooke!
I enjoyed reading about your approach to potential cyberbullying issues. I think it is intuitive to set a guideline of knowing who each student is even if there are nicknames being used, for it is similar to how this class is structured. And, it would be imperative to know and identify who is who in case a situation ever occurs. I also have to say your newsletter looks wonderful; everything is structured very neatly and the colors really compliment each other. Great Job!
