Brooke's EME Blog 1
Hi everyone! My name is Brooke and I am from South Florida! I am marketing major with an education minor. Which is why I am enrolled in this class. I could not find this course offered in person so I opted into the online version.
Currently my experiences using technology in an educational setting are little to none. I have worked a small amount of times in a classroom as a substitute but have always used the projector or board by doing what the teacher has instructed of me. I also worked at a summer camp this summer with kids, and used the Apple TV for educational games and dance parties. I have not really had much experience using technology in an educational setting, but I am excited to learn.
My personal learning networks consist of Youtube, LinkedIn, Zoom, Varsity Tutors, and more. I use YouTube and creators like Magoosh for math and GMAT help, because I am studying for the GMAT this semester. I also use Khan Academy for math and science help, and The Organic Chemistry Tutor as well. I use LinkedIn to connect with friend and professional acquaintances. Through LinkedIn, I am able to look at job and internship postings, read updates on jobs and the news, and update my profile as well to what I am doing academically. I use Zoom to participate in classes and tutoring. Through Zoom, I am able to meet in a face-to-face way with my teachers and instructors to ask for help and learn more. I use Varsity Tutors for an interactive learning environment where I can message my instructor, take practice exams, watch videos and do practice questions to better my understanding of concepts. I use these personal learning networks to help me achieve my goals. I really like using YouTube, Zoom and Varsity Tutors because I am able to communicate back and forth with my instructors to access help. Whether it is by commenting on a video, or in the chat box over Zoom, I am able to communicate with these people to get help and clarification.
I look forward to getting to know everyone!
